Fort Lauderdale Police Enlist Psychic to Help Solve 2017 Disappearance of Sophie Reeder

Nine years after Sophie Reeder vanished at age 15, Fort Lauderdale police have contracted a psychic for a 90-day consultation priced at $1,500 to help crack the cold case. The family and investigators acknowledge the unconventional approach, but say they remain open to any avenue that might generate leads in the teenager’s disappearance.

Reeder disappeared in the early morning hours of May 20, 2017, when she left for a walk and never returned. Surveillance footage captured her walking down Davie Boulevard, and family members discovered $300 cash and a burning candle in her bedroom the following morning, suggesting she intended to come home that day.

The last signal from Reeder’s phone pinged at an apartment complex located off Southwest 11th Court in Fort Lauderdale. Among her final communications were text exchanges with Leonard Jennings, a convicted felon residing at the complex. Police identified Jennings as a person of interest in her disappearance, though he has never been arrested and denied knowing the teenager.

Reeder’s aunt, Kristen Milhorn, disputes Jennings’s account, noting that documented text messages prove the two were in contact. Authorities are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to Reeder, and Fort Lauderdale police report the investigation remains active and ongoing.
