Inter Miami CF announced Wednesday the acquisition of Brazilian midfielder Carlos Henrique Casemiro, bolstering its roster with one of the sport’s most decorated and accomplished performers. The 34-year-old joins as an unrestricted free agent and will remain with the club through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, with a contractual option extending through June 2029, contingent on approval of his P-1 Visa.
Casemiro arrives at Inter Miami following an illustrious career highlighted by five UEFA Champions League victories, three LaLiga titles, and numerous international honors accumulated during his tenure with Real Madrid. The defensive midfielder spent his most recent three seasons competing in England’s Premier League with Manchester United before this transfer.
In a statement released by the club, Casemiro expressed his determination to contribute immediately. “I’m motivated by winning and continuing to grow,” he said. “I can’t wait to get started and give everything I have to repay the trust the club has shown me.”
Inter Miami’s ownership credited the signing as a significant strategic move to strengthen the team’s competitive prospects. Co-owner David Beckham highlighted his admiration for Casemiro’s accomplishments at both Real Madrid and Manchester United, stating the midfielder represents both the character and winning pedigree the franchise seeks.
The MLS has launched an investigation into potential tampering violations surrounding the transfer, according to league insider Tom Bogert. The Los Angeles Galaxy held Casemiro’s discovery rights, prompting league officials to examine whether any regulations were circumvented during the signing process.
