Emergency responders arrived at the intersection of Northwest 13th Avenue and West Dania Beach Boulevard on Saturday afternoon following a serious motor vehicle collision with a residence. A white Jeep Cherokee with significant front-end damage struck the side of the dwelling, leaving a visible hole in the structure before being towed from the location.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed that one occupant required hospitalization following the impact. The injured party was identified as a female passenger who remained at the scene after the collision occurred.
According to BSO, the male operator of the vehicle abandoned the Jeep immediately after the crash and fled on foot, leaving his passenger behind. However, witnesses later notified authorities that the driver had returned to the crash site and was observing the emergency response activities.
Law enforcement officers moved quickly to apprehend the individual upon his return to the scene. The driver was taken into custody, though authorities have not yet released his identity pending further investigation.
