Federal authorities have charged Daejon Love and Taylor Jamie Chan with perpetrating a scheme in which they posed as professional football players for the San Francisco 49ers. The pair allegedly targeted and defrauded more than two dozen women, extracting roughly $1.3 million through their false representations.
Investigators determined that the men exploited victims by assuming the identities of actual 49ers roster members, establishing fraudulent relationships and soliciting money through various pretexts. The scheme took advantage of victims’ trust in the athletes’ purported celebrity status and financial standing.
