Sarah Goldberger, founder and CEO of the organic dog treat company Lord Jameson based in New York, believes her products should factor into the Make America Healthy Again initiative, which prioritizes nutrient-dense whole foods. Speaking to Fox News Digital on National Dog Day, Goldberger emphasized that her company has never incorporated artificial ingredients, synthetic food colorings or fake flavorings, relying instead on natural pigmentation derived from fruits and vegetables.

The MAHA Commission, officially established as a federal initiative in February 2025, has championed increased consumption of whole, nutrient-rich foods while advocating for reduced intake of refined carbohydrates, added sugars and specific artificial additives. Goldberger hopes this nutritional movement will extend into the pet industry, motivating competitors to prioritize animal health through better ingredient choices.

Goldberger launched Lord Jameson in 2019 after her dog of the same name experienced serious health complications. Treatment with medication created bodily toxicity, prompting her to consult with a homeopathic veterinarian and explore plant-based healing methods. She identified a market gap for premium dog treats featuring organic, gluten-free formulations without preservatives, toxins or artificial additives.

A survey of more than 1,000 pet owners revealed widespread concerns about allergies and sensitivities triggered by animal proteins, preservatives and artificial colorings. Goldberger developed her product line to address these concerns while achieving an impressive 18-month shelf life without synthetic preservatives—a manufacturing challenge she considers a competitive advantage.

The treats have resonated with consumers partly because they promote digestive health in dogs, according to Goldberger. She personally consumes the treats and includes them in her children’s lunchboxes. Customer reviews frequently highlight improved canine digestion and suitability for dogs with specialized dietary needs including colitis and diabetes.

Lord Jameson’s Love Puffs line features protein-inspired flavors incorporating organic sorghum, a whole grain rich in protein and fiber. The company maintains complete vertical integration, operating all manufacturing, warehousing and fulfillment from Boulder, Colorado. This localized production strategy has enabled the company to maintain stable pricing for three to four years while avoiding tariff-related cost increases.

The brand distributes its treats through 5,500 independent pet retailers across the United States, select grocery stores, and international markets spanning four countries.
