Police Hunt Suspect in Connection With Two Fatal Shootings Across New York City Boroughs

New York City authorities are conducting a manhunt for 31-year-old Jesus Acosta, accused of carrying out fatal shootings in two separate boroughs within a 72-hour window. The NYPD released surveillance images and identifying details as investigators work to apprehend the suspect in what officials describe as linked violent crimes.

The most recent incident occurred early Tuesday at 149 Grill & Deli, located at 143 East 149th Street in the Bronx. A gunman approached a 33-year-old customer around 12:16 a.m., fired multiple rounds into his chest, and then forcibly took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register before fleeing the scene.

The victim was transported to Lincoln Hospital and initially reported in stable condition but succumbed to his injuries later that day. Police subsequently upgraded the case classification to homicide and connected it to an earlier incident in Brooklyn.

Two days prior, on Sunday shortly after midnight, gunfire erupted at American Best Wings & Pizza, located at 842 Rockaway Avenue in Brooklyn. Officers responding to an assault call discovered a 44-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head and a 39-year-old man shot in the leg.

Both victims were transported to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. The 44-year-old was pronounced dead while the 39-year-old stabilized with injuries. Investigators determined Acosta was responsible for both attacks.

The suspect stands 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs approximately 175 pounds, and has short brown hair and brown eyes. He bears the word “Bronx” tattooed on one hand and the name “Bobby” on his left forearm. The NYPD is asking the public to contact authorities with any information regarding his whereabouts.
