A South Florida man is coping with the sudden loss of his wife and young daughter after they were fatally struck by lightning Sunday afternoon in Margate. Kenya Glasgow, 31, and her 2-year-old daughter Kennedi were killed at approximately 2:30 p.m. near a residence in the 7900 block of Northwest First Street, according to police. The family had just arrived for a family dinner when an approaching storm prompted them to seek shelter inside the home.

Kameron Glasgow, the husband and father, recounted the harrowing moments as the family attempted to reach safety. He recalled noticing the rain intensifying and urging his family to get indoors quickly, only to have lightning strike moments later. The electrical discharge sent a shock through Glasgow himself, but he survived with injuries from the ground current while his wife and daughter were killed.

Glasgow described the overwhelming trauma of turning around after the strike to discover his wife and daughter lifeless on the ground. He emphasized his gratitude for surviving, saying divine intervention spared his life when he could have easily perished. The couple had two other children present at the time, including Kennedi’s twin sister Kensli, who survived the incident.

In reflecting on his losses, Glasgow praised his wife as a compassionate person with an enormous heart who always prioritized those she loved. He noted that Kenya was his high school sweetheart whom he had known since his senior year and credited her with helping shape the man he became. He described Kennedi as an energetic child with a remarkable talent for singing, particularly the song “Beautiful Things” by artist Benson Boone.

Glasgow said the loss feels especially devastating given that he viewed his twin daughters as a blessing from God following his father’s death. Now facing the future as a single parent to Kensli, he expressed determination to move forward for the sake of his surviving daughter. Despite his profound grief, Glasgow said his faith sustains him, believing that God does not present challenges beyond human capacity to endure.
