Bo Nix marked his first game action since suffering a broken ankle in January with a solid performance Friday night, yet the Denver Broncos fell decisively to the Green Bay Packers 33-13 in a preseason matchup. The Broncos quarterback connected with receiver R.J. Harvey for a 21-yard touchdown and earlier hooked up with newcomer Jaylen Waddle on a 35-yard completion during his limited time on the field.

Nix completed 6 of 9 passes for 76 yards and one touchdown in his return, which followed multiple surgical procedures to address his right ankle injury sustained against Buffalo in the previous postseason. After the initial operation in January, doctors performed a follow-up procedure in spring to remove bone spurs. The Broncos had won eight consecutive preseason games before Friday’s loss.

Green Bay’s Jordan Love engineered a 12-play, 63-yard scoring drive in his only series, throwing an 11-yard touchdown to Lloyd for an early 7-0 advantage. The Packers extended their lead significantly in the second half, with Jaden Nixon scoring on a 3-yard run and kicker Trey Smack making four field goals, including attempts from 59, 51, 44, and 38 yards.

Denver cornerback Riley Moss recovered a fumble early but left the game with a rib injury and did not return. The Packers improved to 1-1 on the preseason, while the Broncos fell to the same record. Green Bay hosts Arizona next Friday, while Denver welcomes Minnesota to town in their next preseason contest.
