A shooting at a Marathon gas station in Pompano Beach on Thursday night left one man hospitalized, authorities reported Friday. The Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident at 220 S. Dixie Highway shortly before 7:45 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting gunfire at the location.
Deputies arrived to find a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Witnesses at the convenience store indicated the injured person was employed as a clerk, though the Broward Sheriff’s Office did not immediately verify this detail. Emergency personnel from Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported the victim to a nearby hospital for medical care.
BSO’s Crime Scene and Robbery Units took over the investigation at the scene. Detectives located and detained a subject in connection with the shooting, according to law enforcement officials. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
