Vice President JD Vance characterized several high-profile Democratic politicians with blunt one-word descriptions during a TikTok appearance Thursday. The 30-second video featured names flashing across the screen as Vance offered quick assessments, ranging from complimentary to dismissive remarks about figures from both sides of the political aisle.

Vance labeled Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York a “communist” and described Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer as “cranky.” He called Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed “odd” and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani “crazy,” reserving particular scorn for Sen. Adam Schiff of California, whom he deemed “irrelevant” with minimal elaboration.

The vice president proved significantly warmer toward Trump administration figures. He characterized outgoing White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt as “awesome,” deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller as “hardcore,” and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles as “tough.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio drew a “funny” assessment, while House Speaker Mike Johnson received the descriptor “kind.”

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. merited the word “interesting,” and President Donald Trump himself was deemed “generous” by his second-in-command. The only name that appeared to stump Vance was DSA leader Megan Romer, prompting him to respond with “no comment.”
