Von Miller, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time Super Bowl champion, has agreed to join the Dallas Cowboys for the 2026 NFL season. The defensive end announced his signing via social media, marking a homecoming for the DeSoto, Texas native who will play less than an hour from where he grew up. Deal terms were not immediately disclosed by either party.
Miller’s addition addresses a significant need for the Cowboys, who recorded just 31 sacks last season—ranking in the league’s bottom third. The team also surrendered the most points per game at 30.1 and allowed 377.0 yards per contest, both among the worst defensive performances in the NFL. Dallas has revamped its defensive roster this offseason under new coordinator Christian Parker to reverse these troubling statistics.
The 15-year veteran arrives from the Washington Commanders, where he posted nine sacks and 26 combined tackles across 17 games. Miller remains tied for ninth all-time in career sacks with 138.5 alongside Cowboys legend DeMarcus Ware, who previously played alongside him with the Denver Broncos and won a Super Bowl together. Miller was also named Super Bowl 50 MVP following Denver’s victory over the Carolina Panthers.
The Cowboys selected Miller second overall in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M University. He will now face his former Commanders team and other NFC East opponents wearing Dallas colors, joining recent defensive acquisitions including Rashan Gary, Otito Ogbonnia, and Dee Winters. A future Hall of Fame inductee, Miller carries two first-team All-Pro selections among his numerous career accolades.
