The Green Bay Packers entered this season as one of the lowest projected seeds to reach the NFL playoffs, and current projections suggest they may fall short of postseason qualification altogether. Green Bay’s 2024 campaign has been defined by volatility and roster turnover. The team opened strong with victories against Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders—both playoff teams from the previous year—before stumbling against Cleveland. A 40-40 tie with Dallas followed before the bye week, leaving the Packers at 2-1-1. The season deteriorated down the stretch with four consecutive losses to Chicago, Denver, Baltimore, and Minnesota, though the final game featured limited effort from Green Bay’s perspective.
The offensive weapons available to the team have diminished notably. Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks departed through free agency and trade, while offensive lineman Rasheed Walker signed a modest deal with Carolina Panthers despite being considered among the top free agents available. The wide receiver corps now consists of only two notable contributors after fielding four options previously.
Quarterback Jordan Love remains the central question mark for the franchise. Despite appearing in 15 competitive games last season, Love ranked 13th in passing yards, 14th in touchdowns, and third in QBR while throwing six interceptions. Running back Josh Jacobs, entering another year of his career, and a defensive unit that allowed the 11th-fewest points and yards present additional constraints on championship potential.
Analysts project Green Bay will struggle to match last year’s win total, with the team favored to go under 9.5 wins this season. Sportsbooks list the Packers at +125 odds to miss the playoffs entirely, reflecting widespread skepticism about their roster composition and offensive consistency moving forward.
