The relocation occurred following the birth of his second child and coincided with broader pandemic-driven migration patterns that saw many families leave the state. Lutz emphasized his continued affection for California while acknowledging the practical reasons that prompted the family’s move to the Southeast.
The “Twilight” star and his wife, Brittany Lutz, relocated from Orange County, where Brittany was born and raised. Following the pandemic, many Californians fled the state seeking employment opportunities and greater peace of mind, according to Lutz. His wife’s family made the same decision to leave, and the couple ultimately followed them to Tennessee to ensure Brittany would have adequate support when Lutz traveled for work commitments.
A pivotal moment in the decision came when one of their children became ill, leaving Brittany feeling overwhelmed and helpless without immediate family assistance. Lutz explained that peers with children had reinforced the importance of living near grandparents for childcare support. The family ultimately settled in Franklin, Tennessee, where they have remained for the past three years.
Lutz highlighted the advantages of their Tennessee life, citing quality land, active Bible study groups, strong churches, and a vibrant community. He noted the surprising prevalence of entertainment industry professionals in the area, claiming he has attended more movie premieres in Franklin than in Los Angeles during his Tennessee residency. Despite the benefits, challenges persist, including severe weather such as tornadoes and limited access to specific cuisines his family enjoys.
While the Lutz family has settled into Tennessee life, their long-term plans remain uncertain. Brittany has expressed interest in eventually returning to the California coast or maintaining a bi-coastal lifestyle, though no timeline has been established for such a move.
