Miami Nonprofit Seeks Donations for Colombian Earthquake Relief Efforts

Global Empowerment Mission, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Miami-Dade County, has launched an initiative to provide assistance to those affected by a 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia. The organization is actively collecting donations and coordinating relief efforts in response to the disaster, which has resulted in significant casualties and displacement.

Michael Capponi, who founded and leads GEM, emphasized that monetary contributions offer the greatest operational flexibility for his team on the ground in Colombia. Cash donations enable the organization to procure food and other essentials directly from local sources, maximizing the effectiveness of aid distribution in the affected region.

The nonprofit is accepting new camping equipment, unexpired hygiene products, and first-aid supplies from donors during business hours between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at its facility located at 1850 NW 84 Ave. in Doral.
