The 59-year-old Oscar-winning actress is marking time before a major milestone with a tropical retreat in Fiji. Berry posted multiple images on Instagram documenting her island vacation, which featured serene morning scenes, relaxation by the pool, and sunset strolls down the beach as she prepares to turn 60.
Among the shared photos, Berry stood near the water’s edge wearing a flowing black-and-white animal-print wrap with tassel details draped over a black lace lingerie bodysuit. The cover-up featured wide sleeves, and her tousled hair caught the breeze as she posed against the backdrop of the setting sun meeting the ocean. She captioned the image by noting that “the only bad thing about this trip is that each day must come to an end.”
Additional poolside images showed Berry in a gold bikini reclining along the pool edge, accessorized with a wide-brimmed straw hat, rings, and stacked bracelets. Another shot captured her silhouetted beneath sheer fabric stretched across an outdoor daybed, with palm trees and an infinity pool visible beyond. She also shared a reflective photograph taken through a glass window showing her relaxed in a rounded bathtub.
Berry’s vacation arrives as she approaches her 60th birthday and continues to challenge societal notions about aging and women’s roles. During a July appearance on Hoda Kotb’s “Making Space” podcast, she reflected on how differently she now perceives the milestone compared to her younger self’s expectations.
Berry expressed feeling more confident and authentic than at any previous point in her life. She emphasized that she feels “better than I have in a very, very long time” and described experiencing a greater sense of self-acceptance. The actress credited this shift to no longer feeling obligated to manage others’ expectations as she has matured.
The actress pushed back against suggestions that she should step away from her career permanently upon reaching 60. When asked whether she intends to continue working in films, she responded affirmatively, questioning why she should abandon professional pursuits that have provided purpose and validation throughout her life.
Berry rejected the notion that women should withdraw from the workforce as they age, arguing that meaningful work keeps people engaged, connected, and young in spirit. She told Kotb that she encourages her 18-year-old daughter, Nahla, to pursue career paths driven by genuine passion rather than viewing retirement as an inevitable endpoint.
