Two American military personnel were killed during an Iranian attack on a U.S. facility in Jordan on July 17, according to an announcement by U.S. Central Command on Saturday. The assault utilized both ballistic missiles and drone strikes targeting the compound housing American and allied troops.
One additional service member is missing in the aftermath of the attack, CENTCOM stated through social media. Four American military personnel sustained injuries requiring hospitalization at regional medical centers and have since been discharged, while several others with less serious wounds have returned to duty.
CENTCOM officials withheld additional operational details pending family notification of the deceased. The command said it would adhere to standard protocol by waiting 24 hours after notifying next of kin before releasing the identities of those killed.
