Miami-Dade Authorities Arrest 18-Year-Old for Street Takeover Stunt Driving

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a street takeover Sunday morning in Miami Lakes involving between 40 and 50 vehicles and 70 to 80 spectators. The incident occurred in the early morning hours as drivers performed coordinated stunts across multiple locations in the area. Law enforcement identified the suspect through their investigation of the illegal gathering.

Shawn Nunn, 18, of Fort Lauderdale, operated a gray Dodge Charger during the takeover, executing circular maneuvers known as “donuts” shortly before 1:40 a.m. at Northwest 158 Street near 59 Avenue. Deputies with the Sheriff’s Homeland Security Bureau also documented Nunn driving the same vehicle near Doral at Northwest 110 Avenue and 96 Street shortly before 2:50 a.m.

Authorities apprehended Nunn at 4:15 a.m. Sunday at a Wawa gas station located at 11590 NW South River Drive in Medley. The vehicle was immediately impounded, and a 30-day hold was placed on it following the arrest. Corrections staff booked Nunn into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after 5:40 a.m.

Nunn faces two counts of drag racing and coordinated street takeovers, both first-degree misdemeanors under Florida law that can be elevated to third-degree felonies for subsequent offenses. His bond was set at $5,000, and Circuit Judge Michelle Ashby Delancy is assigned to the case.
