A 24-year-old man identified as Chad Williams opened fire Saturday at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, killing two people before taking his own life, according to police. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks confirmed that Williams died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the assault, which authorities say he carried out alone.
An off-duty state trooper and an armed civilian engaged Williams with gunfire, driving him away from the restaurant and preventing additional casualties, Hicks said during a Sunday news conference. “We believe their actions helped drive the suspect away from the scene, preventing further casualties,” the chief stated, praising both individuals for their intervention.
The shooting resulted in three deaths and seven injuries overall. Of those wounded, two have since been released from the hospital, three remain in stable condition, and two continue to receive treatment for critical injuries, city spokesperson Josh Palmer reported.
