Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley disclosed details about an offseason gastrointestinal illness that struck during his time away from the field. The ailment lasted approximately 24 hours but left him severely depleted, with Ridley reporting a loss of roughly 15 pounds during that single day of sickness.
When questioned by reporters on Saturday about the incident, Ridley confirmed he had experienced similar episodes multiple times throughout his life, ranging from three to four occasions. He characterized the ordeal as debilitating, noting that despite its brief duration, the illness proved significantly taxing on his physical condition.
Ridley identified a fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain as the likely source of his distress, specifically naming Chipotle as the establishment where he consumed the problematic meal. The revelation prompted immediate inquiries from reporters about whether his illness was connected to the cyclospora outbreaks that have affected the nation in recent months.
Chipotle has not been implicated in any of the cyclospora incidents currently circulating, and the company has been contacted for comment regarding Ridley’s situation. The exact cause of the Titans receiver’s gastrointestinal emergency remains undetermined, though Ridley has since recovered from the acute phase of the illness.
