Authorities in Wilton Manors took a man into custody Friday morning as investigators responded to reports of a possible shooting at the Palm Gardens shopping center, located near North Andrews Avenue and Northeast 26th Drive. Officers placed the suspect in a patrol vehicle as the investigation unfolded at the retail location.
A second man sat nearby on a bus bench that had been cordoned off with crime scene tape as officers worked the scene. Visible evidence including what appeared to be blood and torn fabric lay scattered across the shopping center grounds.
Police declined to permit the detained man to communicate with media representatives at the scene, citing his status as a person of interest in the ongoing investigation. Additional details about the incident remain pending as authorities continue their probe.
