The Holey Fire has consumed roughly 3,900 acres across the Everglades region in western Broward County, Florida Forestry officials announced Thursday. The blaze is positioned approximately 6 miles north of Interstate 75 and roughly 20 miles west of U.S. Highway 27 in an area that continues to present significant firefighting challenges.
Aerial footage captured early Thursday morning by Sky 10 documented extensive flames spreading across the landscape, raising concerns among residents and emergency management officials monitoring the situation. Containment efforts remain in early stages, with firefighters achieving a 20 percent containment rate as crews work to limit the fire’s expansion across the surrounding terrain.
