Man faces charges after hospital escape, carjacking, high-speed chase in Miami-Dade

A 35-year-old man with a criminal record faced charges on Friday in Miami-Dade County after he was accused of escaping from a hospital, a carjacking, and a high-speed chase. Jordan Eugene Brown escaped Palmetto General Hospital, at 2001 West 68th St., on Thursday morning in Hialeah, hurt a woman while stealing her car, and sped away, according to Lt. Eddie Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Hialeah Police Department. Brown drove the wrong way several times and passed several vehicles, including a school bus. Law enforcement performed several maneuvers to try to stop him. Shortly after 1:10 p.m., the car spun out after a Florida Highway Patrol trooper struck it. Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled Brown out of the car and handcuffed him at Northwest 17th Avenue and 79th Street. He was barefoot, shirtless, and wearing green pants. Miami-Dade corrections booked Brown shortly before 8:45 p.m. on Thursday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to inmate records. On Friday morning, Brown faced 10 charges in six cases. Seven charges were in three new pending cases, and the three others were in three warrant cases, according to Miami-Dade County court records. In one case, Brown faced charges of burglary with assault and battery, robbery or carjacking, and battery on a person 65 or older. He had a pre-trial detention hold. In a second case, Brown faced a charge of fleeing and eluding a police officer. In a third case, aggravated fleeing while attempting to elude police after damage, aggravated assault on a police officer, and resisting arrest.In a warrant case, he faced a charge of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, reckless driving, reckless driving with damage to property or person.
