Travelers passing through Miami International Airport are dealing with delays and cancellations following Sunday’s cargo plane crash. It was around 2 p.m. Sunday when an Amazon cargo plane operated by 21 Air went off the end of a runway and crashed into several cars, killing five people and injuring five others. A ground stop was initially issued, but flights have since resumed arriving and departing from MIA. Hector Poblete arrived on Monday, telling Local 10 News he was stuck in Peru for several hours on Sunday waiting to board his flight to Miami. “When I arrived to Lima, I had to wait more time there, about six hours,” he said. As of Monday evening, 382 flights out of MIA were delayed and 177 were canceled, according to Flight Aware. Another traveler told Local 10 News she is part of a large group who are all on their way to the Dominican Republic.“We are going to the DR so we are meeting in the Miami airport, but there is a group of 30 of us so half of us are in different states and a lot of people couldn’t make it to their flights,” said traveler Katie, who arrived from Salt Lake City. “We didn’t think we would make it here today, but we’re here.”As passengers try to get their holiday travel back on track, the investigation into what caused the deadly crash continues.
