Good Good Golf, a YouTube channel that has become influential among younger golf enthusiasts, faces significant commercial consequences following the release of a controversial promotional advertisement. The content featured co-founder Garrett Clark shoving a woman to the ground while promoting a branded Callaway driver, a parody attempt that generated immediate criticism across the golf community.
The advertisement was removed within days of posting, and Good Good Golf issued a statement acknowledging the content did not reflect its brand values. Callaway Golf later admitted through a late-night statement that it had approved the advertisement’s release, a significant revelation that shifted responsibility beyond the YouTube channel alone.
Retail consequences have escalated rapidly. Dick’s Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy, and the PGA Tour Superstore have all pulled Good Good Golf merchandise from shelves, according to reports. Additionally, Golf Galaxy requested its name be removed as a title sponsor from “Big Break X Good Good,” a new Golf Channel program that has been delayed as a result.
PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp characterized the situation as “fluid” while expressing disappointment with the initial response. The Good Good Championship at Omni Barton Creek Resort in Austin, Texas, remains uncertain, with the sponsored tournament potentially facing cancellation as fallout continues.
Clark released a video address on social media taking responsibility and explaining the marketing team’s concept. He reiterated that the advertisement was a mistake and emphasized Good Good Golf’s commitment to growing golf’s inclusivity, noting the channel operates a separate program called “Good Good Girls.”
