New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani revealed plans Wednesday to make tickets to the U.S. Open tennis tournament available at substantially reduced prices for the city’s residents. The initiative aims to increase access to one of tennis’s most prestigious events for local spectators who may otherwise be unable to attend.
A total of 1,000 discounted tickets will enter the sales market on Wednesday, according to Mamdani’s announcement. The mayor’s office has not disclosed the specific discount level or pricing structure for the available seats.
The move represents an effort to broaden attendance at the annual tournament held at the U.S. Tennis Association’s facility in Queens, ensuring that cost does not serve as a barrier for city residents seeking to experience professional tennis competition.
