Dania Beach to Hold Midterm Elections for Mayor and Vice Mayor Positions

Dania Beach residents will cast votes at five polling precincts on Nov. 3rd in an at-large election to determine their next mayor and vice mayor, according to the Broward County supervisor of elections office. The commission candidate receiving the highest vote total will secure a two-year mayoral term, replacing Joyce Davis, who was first elected in 2020 and re-elected in 2024. The second-place finisher will assume the vice mayoral position for two years, succeeding Marco Salvino, who took office in 2024.

Six candidates have qualified to compete in the race: Maoz Druskin, Diana Fahmie, Aaron Hollis, Kevin Johnson, Colman Ryan, and Kristof Von Anderson. Druskin, 45, filed his candidacy paperwork on May 27 and has been described by the Israeli Times as an Israeli-born entrepreneur and writer focused on public safety and business development. Fahmie submitted her candidacy on June 8 and brings real estate experience to the campaign, positioning herself as a grandmother committed to preserving the city’s character and coastal resources.

Hollis, who filed on June 1, founded KidsAlways1st, a nonprofit organization dedicated to crime prevention, in 2019 and has worked as both an ice cream vendor and diversion program facilitator. Johnson filed his candidacy on March 9 and holds a doctorate in business administration and sports administration from St. Thomas University, currently working at Florida Memorial University. Ryan filed on May 26 and serves as president of the Dania Improvement Committee, a local civic organization. Von Anderson, a U.S. Army veteran and construction project manager, submitted his candidacy on June 1.
