The third installment of Taylor Sheridan’s “Sicario” thriller franchise is officially moving forward, actor Josh Brolin revealed in a recent interview. Brolin, who portrays CIA operative Matt Graver in the series, told ScreenRant that the film “is happening” with production slated to commence in the near term. The confirmation ends months of speculation surrounding the long-awaited continuation of the violent cartel saga.

The original “Sicario,” released in 2015, established itself as a dark and intense thriller that captured widespread critical acclaim and helped solidify Sheridan’s position as a major creative force in Hollywood. A sequel, “Sicario: Day of the Soldado,” followed in 2018 and reunited Brolin with co-star Benicio del Toro for another exploration of the dangerous world of international drug trafficking.

Producer Thad Luckinbill, who worked on both previous films, expressed optimism about the project’s prospects in comments to Entertainment Weekly. While maintaining some caution, Luckinbill indicated the team’s eagerness to return to the franchise, stating that he remains invested in seeing another installment come to fruition both for audiences and for his own experience as a devoted fan of the series.
