Vincent Evans, 21, of Pompano Beach, has been charged with child abuse without great bodily harm following an altercation that took place Saturday evening at approximately 6 p.m. inside a Chuck E. Cheese location at 2201 N. Federal Highway. Law enforcement officials said Evans entered the establishment with a female companion and approached the victim from behind, initiating a physical confrontation before fleeing the scene with his companion.
The victim, who was working at the restaurant at the time of the incident, is currently dating Evans’ former girlfriend, according to an arrest report filed by Broward County deputies. The ex-girlfriend shares a child with Evans and is expecting another child with the victim, establishing the complex relationship context that investigators determined relevant to the charges filed.
Surveillance footage from the establishment captured the entire incident, providing authorities with documented evidence of the altercation. Deputies apprehended Evans shortly after midnight the same evening in Fort Lauderdale and transported him into custody for processing.
As of Monday evening, Evans remained incarcerated at the Broward Main Jail with a $1,000 bond set by the court.
