The New York Fire Department and New York Police Department squared off Saturday in what marked the first annual hot dog eating competition held on Staten Island. The contest brought together members of both uniformed services in a spirited matchup that tested their competitive appetites.
The inaugural event drew participants from both agencies, who competed to consume the most hot dogs within a set time frame. The rivalry between the city’s firefighters and law enforcement officers provided entertainment and camaraderie among participants and spectators alike.
The competition underscores the longstanding relationship between the FDNY and NYPD, two of New York City’s most prominent emergency services. Saturday’s eating contest offered both departments a chance to engage in lighthearted competition while building community ties on Staten Island.
