A manhunt was underway Sunday as detectives pursued leads in connection with a homicide investigation centered on Miami-Dade County. The search intensified following a high-speed chase that began when Miami police attempted to stop a vehicle near Northwest 12th Avenue and 88th Street shortly before 6 p.m. Friday.
The driver refused to comply with officers’ commands and accelerated away from the scene. The vehicle eventually came to a halt, at which point the driver and three passengers fled on foot in different directions, according to law enforcement accounts.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office aviation units deployed a helicopter to assist ground units in apprehending the suspects. Officers arrested three of the four individuals, but one suspect evaded capture and remained at large.
Detectives have connected the occupants of the vehicle to an ongoing homicide case. Police urged anyone with information about the fugitive or related matters to contact Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477, which allows callers to remain anonymous.
