Miami police arrested a 22-year-old suspect Thursday in connection with an incident in which he allegedly drove a vehicle into a pedestrian before exiting and assaulting the victim with multiple punches. Officers responded to a report at 4111 Southwest Fourth Street, where they discovered a vehicle had crashed into the side of a building. Evidence at the scene included tire marks showing the vehicle had traveled across the sidewalk and through grass before striking a small tree and colliding with the structure.

Eyewitnesses told officers that the driver deliberately steered toward the building, got out of the vehicle, and struck the victim—who was lying on the ground—repeatedly in the face. Several witnesses reported that the suspect intentionally drove into the victim before the vehicle hit the wall, and that the victim subsequently fled south toward apartment buildings with the driver in pursuit, according to the police report.

Officers located both men near the 400 block of Southwest 42nd Avenue and identified the suspect as Ramon Antonio Osorio, 22, matching witness descriptions. The victim sustained significant facial bleeding, bruising to both elbows, and possible internal injuries to the head and body. Miami Fire Rescue transported him to Coral Gables Hospital.

After being advised of his Miranda rights, Osorio claimed the victim was his friend and that they had been sleeping in his vehicle. He told police that upon waking, he discovered the victim and money from his crossbody bag were missing. Osorio stated he later found the victim counting cash on a sidewalk, which angered him, and he admitted to punching the victim repeatedly in the face. When questioned about striking the victim with the vehicle or the building collision, Osorio declined to answer further questions.

A witness positively identified Osorio during a live show-up, and at least one witness provided video evidence showing Osorio striking the victim while he lay on the ground. Osorio, listed as homeless in his arrest report, was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital for medical clearance before being taken into custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He faces one count of aggravated battery, with his bond listed as to be set as of Friday.
