A traffic enforcement stop near Northwest 88th Street and 12th Avenue in northwest Miami-Dade escalated into a sprawling manhunt Friday night after occupants of the vehicle fled the scene. Officers attempted to pull over a vehicle carrying four individuals just before 6 p.m., but the driver accelerated away from the stop, prompting a pursuit through the residential neighborhood.
Three of the four occupants exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but law enforcement apprehended them at the scene. The fourth passenger remained missing as search efforts intensified throughout the evening. Police identified the absent individual as a possible murder suspect.
A police helicopter circled the area for approximately two hours, scanning nearby residential blocks as ground units searched for the fugitive. The aerial support aided officers in covering the surrounding neighborhoods and monitoring potential escape routes. By late evening, law enforcement had withdrawn from the immediate intersection, though the status of the ongoing search remained unclear.
