A disagreement over a parking space prompted a police response and standoff Thursday afternoon at a one-story residential building in Fort Lauderdale. Officers were dispatched to the complex located at Miami Road and Southeast 19th Street, situated in an area west of Port Everglades, after reports of the escalating dispute.
Two individuals refused to exit their apartment during the initial police arrival, according to Sgt. Patrick O’Brien, spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. The pair eventually emerged from the unit and were taken into custody by responding officers on scene.
During the incident, authorities began investigating allegations that weapons were involved in the altercation, O’Brien stated. Detectives continue to gather information related to this case and are encouraging anyone with additional details to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 while remaining anonymous.
