Three automobiles collided at the intersection of West 204th Street and Sherman Avenue in Inwood just after 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, according to emergency officials. The impact caused at least one of the vehicles to mount the sidewalk, creating a hazardous scene in the residential neighborhood.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find at least one person with life-threatening injuries. That individual was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of critical wounds sustained in the crash.
The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation by local authorities. Investigators did not immediately disclose whether additional injuries were sustained or provide details about the vehicles involved.
