Residents at The Residence at Dania Beach were relocated to operational sections of the facility late Wednesday morning after an electrical failure left portions of the building without power. The outage at the 150 Stirling Road location in Broward County prompted a response from Florida Power & Light after the facility’s management reported the service interruption to authorities.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue confirmed that no evacuations were necessary, though patients in affected areas were moved to locations where air conditioning and other essential services remained functional. The decision to relocate residents rather than evacuate reflected emergency officials’ assessment that the situation could be managed on-site, though the circumstances posed challenges for vulnerable populations within the facility.

Resident Jorge Gonzalez described the difficult conditions, noting the intense heat and the particular vulnerability of elderly patients and those dependent on oxygen equipment who require climate control. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Kane stated that patients had been placed in “an environment that is tenable for them for the short term,” and officials reported no medical emergencies resulted from the outage.
