An illegal street takeover in Bellflower, a city in southeast Los Angeles County, provided cover for a coordinated break-in at a family-operated convenience store over the weekend. Surveillance footage documented the incident at A-Z Market, where three individuals used power tools to breach the storefront window and cut through a security gate lock, enabling dozens more to flood inside.
According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, up to 40 additional suspects poured into the business and systematically stripped merchandise and fixtures within approximately two minutes before dispersing back into the street takeover crowd. The family operating the store reported total losses exceeding $30,000, accounting for both stolen inventory and structural damage sustained during the break-in.
A fundraiser established for the family emphasized the business’s significance beyond commerce. “A-Z Market is more than just a store to us—it is our livelihood and a place we have worked hard to build and serve our local community,” organizers stated on the fundraising page.
While authorities issued multiple citations related to the street takeover itself, no arrests have been made in connection with the burglary. Deputies determined they could not directly link any individuals present at the scene to the break-in based on available evidence.
The incident follows a similar coordinated theft two days prior in East Los Angeles, where 26 suspects allegedly conducted mob-style burglaries at an AutoZone store across consecutive days, causing significant damage and theft losses.
