Authorities in the Dallas area arrested a 37-year-old man Wednesday on murder charges following the discovery of his estranged wife’s body at his Plano residence. Jake Bigoni was initially detained on a felony abuse of corpse charge, with prosecutors later elevating the case to include a murder count, police officials announced. The victim, identified as Eliana Bigoni, was found during a welfare check prompted by concerns from a family friend.
The search for Eliana Bigoni began after an acquaintance reported her absence from a scheduled breakfast meeting at 8:30 a.m. and inability to reach her by phone. According to an arrest warrant reviewed by FOX 4, the friend informed police that Jake and Eliana Bigoni were separated and that she had been traveling to collect their two children, ages 2 and 5, at the time she went missing. The couple was navigating divorce proceedings when the fatal incident occurred.
Officers responding to the wellness check discovered a substantial bloodstain on Jake Bigoni’s clothing, which he attributed to a cleaning activity. Investigators located Eliana Bigoni’s remains in the trunk of a white Hyundai parked in the apartment complex garage, where she bore severe traumatic injuries to her head and face. Police confirmed the couple’s young children were present in the apartment during the alleged incident and sustained no physical harm.
According to police records, Jake Bigoni’s mother called emergency services and reported that her son had contacted her claiming responsibility for his wife’s death following an altercation. Court documents indicate Jake Bigoni has a documented history of violent conduct. He remains incarcerated without bail as the investigation continues.
