American intelligence analysts determined that a reported threat targeting former President Donald Trump posed no genuine danger before authorities arranged for him to change aircraft while departing Ankara, Turkey, according to officials briefed on the matter. The assessment came as Trump prepared to leave the country, prompting the decision to switch his mode of transportation.
Intelligence regarding the potential threat originated from Israeli officials, who relayed the information to their American counterparts immediately as events unfolded on the ground in Turkey. Despite the warning being passed through official intelligence channels in real time, U.S. evaluators ultimately concluded the intelligence did not reflect an actual or imminent risk to the former president’s safety.
