The Walt Disney Company and Formula 1 have agreed to extend their existing partnership for an additional three years, with the agreement running through 2028. The expanded collaboration will mark the first time Pixar’s animated “Cars” franchise becomes integrated into the racing organization’s global activities, expanding the scope of their previous commercial relationship.
Lightning McQueen, the protagonist character from the “Cars” films, will make an appearance at the Formula 1 Gran Premio d’Italia in Monza as part of the enhanced partnership. The integration represents a significant cross-promotional opportunity for Disney and Pixar to reach Formula 1’s international audience across multiple continents and demographics.
The extended agreement underscores the entertainment conglomerate’s strategy of leveraging its portfolio of intellectual property across sports properties and global events. Financial terms of the extension were not disclosed in the announcement.
