A 45-minute ride on an electric Citi Bike currently costs riders four times what they would pay for a subway or bus journey and nearly triple the price of a ferry trip, according to the advocacy groups pushing for reform.
The proposal seeks to establish a flat $3 fare structure for Citi Bike rides, bringing costs in line with other mass transit modes across the city.
