Body camera footage released this week captures the dramatic conclusion of a high-speed pursuit that ended with a violent collision in Miami-Dade County on May 13. Deputies from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol troopers executed a precision intervention technique (PIT) maneuver near Northwest 86th Terrace and Northwest 18th Avenue, forcing a red Dodge pickup truck to overturn and bringing the chase to an abrupt halt.
Ronald Kelly, 29, was arrested at the scene following the crash. Law enforcement officials safely extracted a kidnapping victim from the bed of the overturned truck, ending an ordeal that prompted the intensive pursuit across the county. Officers took Kelly into custody without further incident.
Kelly faces an extensive list of charges stemming from this incident, including kidnapping, aggravated fleeing and eluding causing injury or death, false imprisonment, burglary of an unoccupied structure, third-degree theft from a construction site, and petit theft. He is also facing separate charges connected to an alleged domestic dispute under investigation.
