Searchers fanned out across western Colombia on Wednesday as emergency crews pressed ahead with recovery operations in the aftermath of a 7.4 magnitude earthquake. The disaster has claimed more than 224 lives, with teams working around the clock to locate additional survivors trapped in the rubble.

The seismic event struck a heavily populated region, causing widespread structural damage and hampering initial access to affected areas. Rescue personnel deployed heavy equipment and search dogs to navigate through collapsed buildings and debris fields scattered across multiple communities.

Authorities coordinated response efforts across damaged municipalities, establishing supply lines and medical stations to treat the injured. Officials said the ongoing operations would continue through the coming days as crews work to account for all missing persons and assess the full scope of damage.
