Trump Appoints Will Scharf as White House Counsel, Replacing David Warrington

President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social on Sunday that Will Scharf, currently serving as assistant to the president and White House staff secretary, will assume the position of White House Counsel beginning September 1st. Scharf will succeed David Warrington, whom Trump credited with performing outstanding work in the counsel role and during the presidential campaign before transitioning to the private sector.

Trump highlighted Scharf’s extensive legal background, noting his prior service as a federal prosecutor, private practice attorney, and law clerk for two federal appeals court judges. The president also emphasized Scharf’s educational credentials from Princeton University and Harvard Law School, as well as his previous representation of Trump in multiple cases, including matters argued before the Supreme Court during the Biden administration.

White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles congratulated Scharf on the appointment via social media, praising his impending leadership of the counsel’s office. Wiles also thanked Warrington for his tenure, highlighting that the White House Counsel’s Office achieved 24 Supreme Court victories and secured confirmation of 54 judges during their tenure.

Conservative commentator Josh Hammer, who co-founded “Jews Against Soros” with Scharf in 2023, told Fox News Digital that Trump made an excellent decision in selecting Scharf for the position. Hammer described the appointment as a significant asset to the White House counsel’s operations.
