Minnesota Governor Tim Walz posted a golf video on social media this week that quickly drew widespread attention and scrutiny from internet users. The clip, filmed at Northwest Angle Country Club in Minnesota, showed Walz in a quarter-zip shirt hitting drives and completing holes across a 2-minute span.
The video prompted immediate questions about Walz’s swing mechanics and course conditions. His opening shot appeared to originate from grass rather than a traditional tee box, and observers debated whether the ball traveled the distance he claimed. According to Walz, he stood 100 yards from the green on his second shot after an initial drive, placing his first shot at approximately 161 yards on what he identified as the course’s sixth hole, a par-4 measuring 261 yards.
The National Football League’s Hall of Fame game delivered a significant television audience Thursday, drawing 7 million viewers and surpassing the NBA’s average playoff viewership from the past season. The NBA averaged 6.35 million viewers across all playoff games broadcast on ABC, ESPN, Prime Video, NBC and Peacock this year—the league’s best performance since 1998—yet fell short of the NFL’s preseason offering.
The disparity underscores the NFL’s dominant position in American sports viewership, with even the league’s least consequential preseason contests outperforming marquee playoff basketball games.
