GOP Senator Says Fauci Phone Texts Reveal Private Vaccine Concerns Withheld From Public

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., characterized newly released text messages from Dr. Anthony Fauci’s government phone as preliminary evidence of a much larger pattern of concealment. Johnson, who chairs the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, obtained the device from Fauci’s tenure leading the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases through the Department of Health and Human Services.

Text exchanges from January 2021 between Fauci, then-CDC Director Rochelle Walensky and future Surgeon General Vivek Murthy revealed Fauci’s concerns that mRNA vaccines could theoretically trigger miscarriages in early pregnancy due to cytokine storms following second doses. Johnson contended that such private doubts contradicted public health messaging delivered to pregnant women during the vaccination rollout.

Johnson drew attention to a 2021 New England Journal of Medicine study by Dr. Tom Shimabukuro analyzing 827 pregnancies exposed to mRNA vaccines. He argued that the published data obscured the actual miscarriage rate among women vaccinated in the first and second trimesters, claiming the true figure reached 82 percent based on his calculations of the available numbers.

The Wisconsin senator emphasized that his investigation remains in early stages and aims to document instances where Fauci’s private statements diverged from his public declarations. Johnson stated additional communications demonstrating this discrepancy would likely emerge as his team continues reviewing the phone’s contents.
