Chelsea Green’s ascent through the WWE women’s division has been marked by persistent physical setbacks. The competitor has battled multiple injuries over the past year, including a cardiac issue requiring hospitalization and surgical intervention. Despite these challenges, Green claimed the interim women’s championship in a ladder match victory at SummerSlam last weekend.
The triumph proved short-lived when Green suffered a broken orbital bone during a Friday tag team match alongside Tiffany Stratton against Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid. Green disclosed the injury to her followers through a social media video, noting that she received emergency medical treatment following the bout.
“I ended up in the emergency room and I have a broken orbital bone,” Green stated in her post. “It looks amazing all things considered. It feels awful but looks pretty amazing.”
Green acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding her status and expressed frustration with her injury history. “I feel like if I didn’t have bad luck, I’d have no luck at all,” she said, adding that she would assess her condition day by day before determining her next steps. The timeline for her return to competition remains unclear.
The interim championship was created due to the absence of reigning WWE women’s champion Rhea Ripley, who underwent knee surgery last week and faces several months of recovery. Questions linger regarding whether Green will retain the interim belt while healing from her injury.
