Ana Maria Markovic has concluded her tenure with Brooklyn FC after a single season in New York and returned to her native Croatia to compete for Hajduk Split. The move marks the fifth team change for the Croatian athlete since 2024, reflecting her efforts to rebuild her career following a significant setback in her playing ability.
Markovic suffered a major knee injury while representing Switzerland’s Grasshopper Club in March 2023, an event that has significantly impacted her performance since. The injury has contributed to a notable absence of goals in her statistical record, yet she has continued to pursue professional opportunities in the sport.
Her latest club, Hajduk Split, enters the 2024 season as the defending champion of the Croatian Women’s First Football League after capturing the title in May. The team recently completed preliminary qualification rounds in the UEFA Women’s Champions League but was eliminated from contention, turning focus toward domestic league competition.
Despite the professional challenges that have defined her recent career arc, Markovic has maintained her presence in public life and continues to engage in offseason activities.
