A former Democratic National Committee fundraiser cautioned Saturday that high-dollar donors will not likely support former Vice President Kamala Harris should she seek the presidency again, citing deep fissures within the party structure alongside mounting financial challenges and a thin roster of potential 2028 candidates. Lindy Li made the remarks during an appearance on “My View with Lara Trump,” asserting that wealthy contributors evaluate their political spending through a financial lens and withhold future backing from candidates or institutions they perceive as fiscally irresponsible.

Li leveled criticism at Democratic leadership for failing to conduct meaningful post-election assessments and for ignoring grassroots donor discontent that she contends has exacerbated broader fundraising shortfalls across the party. She characterized the party’s official examination of the 2024 campaign as superficial and noted that leaders declined to acknowledge Harris’s weaknesses as a candidate, stating that the former vice president operates under the misguided belief that wealthy supporters would gamble on her political future again.

The 2024 Democratic campaign apparatus channeled approximately $2.5 billion in spending through Harris’s direct operation and the pro-Harris Future Forward super PAC combined, with federal records indicating Harris’s principal campaign committee alone reported roughly $1.18 billion in disbursements throughout the 2023-24 election cycle. Li attributed donor exodus and the party’s depleted financial coffers to Democratic movement toward policies she characterized as socialist, noting that the party has become so financially strapped it was forced to pledge its own headquarters building as collateral.

Li further contended that Democratic leadership has capitulated to pressure from the party’s progressive wing, alleging that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer invokes the “big tent” label primarily to forestall a primary challenge from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York. She concluded that American voters definitively rejected the party’s ideological direction in the 2024 general election and that Democratic attempts to normalize socialist platforms represent a strategic miscalculation.
