The Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour is holding its New York event this weekend at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, marking the third time the upstart circuit has hosted a tournament at one of President Donald Trump’s properties. Trump made an appearance at the event and was greeted with sustained applause from attendees as he traveled across the course in a golf cart, according to reporting by The New York Post.

The president’s presence carries symbolic importance for LIV Golf, which has faced significant uncertainty about its long-term viability. In April, the Saudi Public Investment Fund, the tour’s sole financial backer, announced it would cease funding operations, raising serious questions about whether the league could survive beyond 2026.

That funding crisis may have been substantially alleviated this week. LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil revealed that the tour has secured a commitment from an undisclosed lead investor to anchor the circuit’s financial future. “LIV Golf has an agreement in place with a lead investor, signed by the investor and approved by the Board, to anchor the transaction and play a key role in supporting the path forward for the League’s next era, driven by and for the players,” O’Neil stated.
