An employee at a Lower East Side deli became the target of gunfire during an armed robbery, according to law enforcement officials investigating the incident. The 25-year-old victim had only been employed at the establishment for approximately one month before the attack occurred.
The shooting took place during an overnight shift when the worker was suddenly confronted by an armed assailant, authorities said. The New York Police Department is actively seeking the suspect involved in the robbery-turned-shooting.
Details regarding the victim’s condition and the circumstances surrounding the robbery remained under investigation as police canvassed the neighborhood for leads and surveillance footage.
